We need walking buses for all schools and safe streets for travel by foot or bicycle.
All schools should operate their buildings with sustainable energy use, including combined heat and power shared with local housing

Make the schools green places. Playgrounds should be the enchanted wild places children need to grow up in. Grow our very own eco warriors,
growing up with sustainable living at the forefront of their minds.
Encourage existing youth groups e.g. scouts to become involved in sustainable wharfedale projects, working with existing local wildlife and conservation groups.

Press for policies for joined up development.
Every effort should be made to engage children and adults with the local environment - river, moor woodland and farmland as well as more obvious green issues.

Adult education and community groups could give people skills for sustainable living: gardening, renewable energy, cooking, DIY.

Ilkley Freecycle Café provides a forum for discussion of green living
University of the Third Age in Ilkley has some groups studying environmental/sustainability issues.
