see Waste Resources

Waste - remember the first "R" - reduce!
Start a ‘re-use’ section at the recycling centre
Aim to stop putting waste in the ground unless it is being composted.
Ask for glass recycling for Leeds area homes.

Local council expenditure - encourage the recent proposal to allow communities to determine local council expenditure of budgets and lobby locally for the money to be spent on improving sustainability and the local environment.

Water is likely to remain abundant in Yorkshire in the near future, but large amounts of energy are used to purify and transport clean water. Much of this clean water is used for flushing toilets and other uses where potable water is not needed, and this is a waste of energy. We should use less water overall, and will be collecting rainwater and/or greywater for re-use in the garden, for washing cars and flushing toilets. Some houses will install composting toilets or reed beds for water-free sanitation.
