Friends of the Earth has been instrumental in getting the climate change bill into parliament and is now pressurising MPs to toughen the bill up, cutting emissions by 80% instead of 60% and including aviation in its calculations.

Already scientists are suggesting that this should be increased to a 90% cut to give a better chance of staving off runaway climate change. George Monbiot's book Heat gives excellent practical well researched suggestions for making 90% carbon savings in all spheres.
